PhD candidate Yuan Hui receives the best student paper award from ASCE-EWRI

Yuan Hui was awarded first place in the graduate student technical paper competition during the 2019 World Environmental & Water Resources Congress. Hui’s paper, "Analyzing the Effects of Wind and Stratification on Surface Currents in a Large Lake", studies the individual effects of wind and stratification on Lake Ontario surface currents and Niagara River Plume. This study helps better understand the roles of meteorological conditions, especially wind and air temperature, on lake circulations and nutrient distributions. Congratulations to Yuan Hui!

Created in 1999, the Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) is the recognized leader within ASCE for the integration of technical expertise and public policy in the planning, design, construction, and operation of environmentally sound and sustainable infrastructure impacting air, land and water resources.
